When I was a child, I struggled with concentration in school. After a series of tests, a few doctors concluded I had attention difficulties and prescribed me a small yellow pill. Though I’ve been off that medication for over 20 years, there are moments when my focus wavers—something that seems all too common in our distraction-filled world.
As I grew older, I realized something profound about myself: I couldn’t bear the monotony of doing the same thing every day. The lack of variety in some of my jobs drained my interest, yet I stayed committed. My pride in hard work kept me going, pushing me to learn as much as I could so I wouldn’t find myself in those same roles again.
Eventually, I transitioned into work closer to my true passion: the creative world. Here, my so-called A.D.D. became less of a hindrance and more of a strength. With so much stimulation and variety, I discovered I could focus better in environments that embraced change and innovation.
Now, as a freelancer, I’ve found my perfect fit. The freedom to shift between diverse projects keeps boredom at bay—always. Sure, there’s stress, but that’s part of the ride. And for me, it’s worth it.
