Objective

To streamline the process of building client-reviewable prototypes and exporting assets for various media, a smart template was developed. This template enables any designer with basic Adobe XD knowledge to create prototypes rapidly while producing presized exportable assets for web, social media, email, and other channels.

Challenge

With ongoing template updates and the rotation of new designers, the existing Adobe XD design system required a significant overhaul to improve functionality, accuracy, and consistency. The update needed to:

  1. Debug and refine the template to accommodate new design needs.
  2. Incorporate a complete suite of social media cards, email headers, and images to meet evolving asset requirements.

Approach

  1. Team Collaboration: The creative team collaborated to ensure all template updates aligned with current brand standards and needs.
  2. Template Development & Debugging: The team updated the smart template in Adobe XD, focusing on creating a user-friendly experience that allowed designers across PwC to quickly produce and share reviewable prototypes. This included adding new features for asset resizing and export.
  3. Design System Overhaul: The Adobe XD design system was debugged and expanded to include essential components like a complete set of social media cards, email headers, and high-quality images, creating a consistent library of assets that supported the web and marketing departments.

Results

The enhanced smart template system delivered a major improvement in design efficiency and consistency. The new Adobe XD design system empowered PwC’s design and creative teams to:

  • Create prototypes for client review in minutes.
  • Export a range of non-standard image sizes required by the web department.
  • Achieve seamless, brand-consistent asset creation across web, social, and email platforms.
